Vincenzo Galdi revolutionised photography of the Nude. Beginning his apprenticeship in Naples, he at first modelled for Wilhelm von Plüschow before developing his own pictorial and sensual style. In his studio in Rome, he captured the beauty of the human body, uniting poetry and realism. An actor, a stage designer and a gallery owner, his development came at the very heart of the artistic excitement of his times as he frequented members of the Italian Futurist movement. Being notable for his daring portrayal of the Nude and his remarkable technical expertise, for many years his work only circulated among a happy few.
The present monograph traces Vincenzo Galdi’s fascinating trajectory, and constitutes a celebration of his enthralling visual heritage.
