AIKO is a visual diary which is far more personal than his previously published books.

“His photographs carve out a space all their own, situate themselves between composition and documentation. They are at once aide mémoires and tableaux arranged with an inimitable sense of nuance. They are like photographic notes on a fascinating and fascinatingly contemporary aesthetic that allows both the photographer and viewers of his works to grab onto, even swing hand-over-hand through time. What emerges in the interaction of these works is nothing less than a ballad of mourning, loss and death, of isolated bodies, nakedness and traces of closeness, of tentatively-determined confidence. A ballad of time lost and gained. A ballad of life lived.” Daniel Schreiber

In AIKO, bodies in various poses meet wilting tulip blossoms, flayed citrus fruits and shots of empty streets in Berlin, Vienna or Montreal. On this photographic journey, Florian Hetz invites the viewer to partake in what has perhaps been the most emotional year of his life.
